Fire & Flower (CAN:FAF)¸ the latest Canadian marijuana retail company to list its shares on the public stock market, has received its US ticker symbol.

Fire & Flower’s U.S. ticker symbol is “FFLWF.”

U.S. marijuana investors can now buy just like any other stock on the stock market.

Before today, Fire & Flower shares traded exclusively on the TSX Venture Exchange, a Canadian stock exchange for small and growing companies.

This news is a which could make for a quick trading opportunity and another option for investors looking at the one of the best marijuana investment opportunities of 2018.

Here’s why.

As you know, Fire & Flower flopped on its first day of trading.

It was a bit of surprise since the company has attracted investments from some of the top marijuana companies. Aphria (CAN:APHA / US:APHA), HEXO Corp (CAN:HEXO / US:HEXO), and TerrAscend (CAN:TER / US:TRSSF) have all made investments totaling more than C$20 million early in Fire & Flower’s development.

On top of the pedigree of its investors, Fire & Flower is a pure play on the retail side of Canada’s legal marijuana industry.

Retail is one of the most attractive segments of the marijuana sector right now because of the large and imminent growth (it didn’t start until marijuana was fully legalized in Canada) and marijuana retail stocks have the poorest performers over the last few months.

It’s a perfect combination for investors and the timing is near ideal.

You see, Fire & Flower and companies like it are not the big cannabis producers like Cronos Group (CAN:CRON / US:CRON) which have seen their share prices soar over the last few years as these have become multi-billion dollar companies.

Instead, it’s a new breed of marijuana stocks which are leading the way in creating an entirely new marijuana market.

We realize the big “pot stocks” which started the marijuana boom have been the best stocks to own. But that will all change as the industry matures.

The marijuana industry is heading for a major turning point where retailers, brands, and products are going to lead the way.

Raw marijuana will be commoditized. It’s already happening with the decline in wholesale raw marijuana prices.

Retail will take the lead in the next leg of the marijuana boom and hit new highs as legal recreational marijuana came into effect.

It’s only been a few months into the new legal recreational marijuana industry and marijuana retailers are still tiny.

Fire & Flower is a good example. It only has nine stores in Western Canada. But it has plans to grow that many times over.

That’s the big reason marijuana retail stocks are so out of favor relative to the rest of the public cannabis companies.

Simply put, they’re all small. Very small.

They won’t be that way for long though because the future of marijuana is in the retail segment and the pure-play marijuana retailers are going to lead the way.
