Looks like another celebrity is entering the retail cannabis fray. This time, it’s actor/writer/producer Seth Rogen who announced earlier this week on Twitter that he’s launching his own cannabis company Houseplant following “five years of hard work.” The venture is the result of a partnership with Canadian cannabis company Canopy Growth. Houseplant will not only sell recreational marijuana products, but the nascent company hopes to educate users as well.
Rogen is launching Houseplant with longtime writing partner, childhood friend and fellow Canadian native Evan Goldberg. The company’s first strain, dubbed Houseplant Sativa, will debut in April. Two more strains named Houseplant Hybrid and Houseplant Indica, respectively, are expected to be introduced later in the year.
On his newest venture the “Pineapple Express” star said in a statement, “Houseplant is a passion we've brought to life through drive and dedication. Every decision we've made for the business reflects the years of education, first-hand experience and respect we have for cannabis."
Goldberg echoed his partner’s enthusiasm: "We are so proud to be launching in Canada, our home. After spending five years diligently preparing for the launch of this company, we're excited to be able to share our passion for cannabis with Canadians in this way."
